Trendsetter Lebohang Maboe paints his nails

Lebohang Maboe is quite the trendsetter as he was spotted with his nails painted. Here's more!

The story

Maboe is on the back of a successful treble-winning season as well as a tropical vacation in Thailand. With the player beaming with confidence, he has now begun a trend that has become increasingly popular outside South Africa as famous male personalities have broken barriers by having their nails painted.

Scroll through the gallery above to see some of Maboe's latest style statements.

A brave baller

One must admit that Maboe is brave for customizing his nails as some societies aren't as accepting of such, particularly third-world countries. An article by the New York Times suggests that South Africa is neither a that nor a first-world nation.

Without dwelling on that, the former Maritzburg United attacker has demonstrated style is incredibly subjective and unique to each person. The benefit of his new trend is that he appears to be the first footballer to openly do it, thus influencing local pop culture in a way that celebrities do, especially in the modern era.

Did you know?

It's fair to say that the lifestyles of footballers are increasingly breaking barriers. More recently Jack Grealish was reportedly on the verge of becoming the first footballer to be endorsed by Gucci. Meanwhile this week, Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga became the first footballer to model for Balenciaga at the Paris Fashion week.

Your thoughts, please?

Will Maboe be a regular starter at Downs this coming season?
