Ghana 4-3 Central African Republic
Jordan Ayew netted a hat-trick as Ghana defeated Central African Republic 4-3 to cement top spot in Group I.
Ayew broke the deadlock in the sixth minute through a spot-kick, but the visitors replied five minutes later courtesy of Louis Mafouta.
Mafouta turned up once more shortly before the interval and bagged a first-half double to see travelling counterparts in the ascendancy.
With their backs against the wall, the Black Stars nabbed victory from the jaws of defeat as Ayew struck twice to complete a hat-trick and Abdul Fatawu complement matters.
The visiting nation did have something to smile about at the death though where Mafouta struck once again to ensure a hat-trick, but the victory belonged to the Black Stars.
Guinea-Bissau 1-1 Egypt
Egypt's perfect start in Group A was brought to a halt following a 1-1 draw with Guinea-Bissau on Monday.
To date, it's been a dominant campaign for the Pharaohs who edged Burkina Faso last time out, but had the going tough on this occasion particularly after Mama Balde's first half opener.
The momentum shifted immensely though albeit in the latter exchanges after Liverpool's Mohamed Salah came to the rescue of the North Africans and forced a point.
Uganda 1-2 Algeria
Algeria redeemed themselves from last Thursday's shock defeat to Guinea and overcame Uganda 2-1 to remain on top of Group G.
The Cranes made a fast start on ten minutes through Travis Mutyaba, but Houssem Aouar rescued the Desert Foxes a minute in the second half with the equaliser.
Olympique Lyon striker Said Benrahma added a second for the visitors and evidently steered them to victory and a firm grip at the top of the group standings with the Cranes in fifth-place.
Burkina Faso 2-2 Sierra Leone
Burkina Faso were denied the chance to close the gap in Group A as Sierra Leone came from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw.
In light of a slow opening, the Stallions seized advantage courtesy of Dango Ouattara and added a second from the spot through Lassina Traore on the cusp of halftime.
There were light at the end of the tunnel for the Leone Stars when Augustus Kargbo netted shortly after the break and sealed a point three minutes from time through Amadou Bakayoko.
Guinea 0-1 Mozambique
Mozambique left it late to claim a 1-0 win over Guinea to go level on points with Algeria at the top of Group G.
After upsetting Algeria last Thursday, the host fancied yet another win to consolidate matters in the group but the Mambas who have made a steady start to the qualifiers had an agenda of their own.
Thus, with fulltime in sight and a draw looming – a certain Geny Catamo rose to the fore from the penalty spot and fired in the winner.
