Samuel Eto'o: El Hadji Diouf & Didier Drogba were not at my level

Samuel Eto'o has suggested that El Hadji Diouf might have had too much to drink when he claimed to have been Africa's best player, while also aiming a pop at Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba.

Diouf had recently boasted that he was the greatest player to hail from the African continent, but Eto'o has emphatically dismissed those claims, and also played down Drogba's achievements during his playing career.

"Even if my brother Diouf the last time, with an extra glass, got a little lost, there is no debate [about who is the best]", the former Cameroon international said, according to Goal.

"None of them [Diouf or Drogba] can come and say that they were at my level or better. And it's not the fact that I say it, it's a fact, it's something that is there. I wanted to be number one and I have been throughout my career."

Eto'o won a record-equalling four CAF Footballer of the Year awards the joint-most by any player alongside Yaya Toure and also finished as runner-up twice, and in third place twice more.
