Arsene Wenger unhappy with Troy Deeney's 'cojones' claim after Arsenal's loss at Watford

The Hornets came from behind to snatch a 2-1 win over the Gunners on Saturday, albeit in controversial circumstances after winning a dubious penalty which Deeney converted before Tom Cleverley’s injury-time winner.

After the game, Deeney suggested Arsenal were lacking ‘cojones’, and Wenger has unsurprisingly not taken lightly to the claims.

"Everyone is entitled to talk," Wenger said ahead of tonight's Europa League tie with Red Star Belgrade.

"We don't listen to what people say - we try to analyse our own game.

"I love my players and I trust their strength of character to respond quickly. In the last seven games, we had six wins and one draw.

"Comments are part of the modern game. You can't question our character.

"People try and put us down, they always have. Those comments aren't justified."
