Eighth-richest man approaches Liverpool

Liverpool have reportedly been approached about a potential sale by the eighth-richest man in the world.

With Fenway Sports Group reportedly looking to sell their majority stake in the Merseyside club, a number of businessman have been linked with the Premier League side.

UFC star Connor McGregor has been the first to publicly show an interest in buying Liverpool.

The Daily Mirror are now reporting that Indian businessman Mukesh Ambani - who is understood to have a net worth of around £90 billion (R1.8 trillion) has already enquired about the possible sale of the Reds.

Ambani is included in Forbes top ten rich list which means that the entrepreneur can comfortably afford to match FSG's asking price which is said to be $4.58 billion (R81 billion).

The American owners are set to make a massive profit from the $353 million (R6.1 billion) they initially spent to buy Liverpool in 2010.

The report adds that Ambani will have to act quickly if his intentions are serious as parties from Middle East and the United states have already tabled offers.

Ambani has already delved into other sports as he helped set up the Indian football Super League and is the owner of the IPL cricket team Mumbai Indians.

At the time of purchasing the cricket side, the 65-year-old was dubbed as the "World's Richest Sports Team Owner".
