Manchester United news: Jesse Lingard set for West Ham United loan

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has allowed midfielder Jesse Lingard to join West Ham United on loan for the rest of the season.

David Moyes' side beat Newcastle United to secure the services of the England international who has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford since the arrival of Bruno Fernandes.

Lingard failed to make a single Premier League start in the current campaign and his diminishing first-team prospects has seen Solskjaer opt to allow him to join the Hammers.

According to SkySports, West Bromwich Albion also enquired about his availability before the £3-million loan fee agreement was reached with the London-based outfit.

Lingard still has one year left on his current contract after the Red Devils activated a clause to extend his stay in order to secure a transfer fee before his eventual exit in the off-season.
