Eto'o retired as Cameroon's all-time record goalscorer with 56 goals in 118 caps between 1997 and 2014.
Eto'o started his career with Real Madrid in 1997 before joining Mallorca due to limited first-team chances.
At Mallorca between 2000-2004, he scored 66 goals in 154 games before FC Barcelona snapped him up for €24m.
With Barcelona, the African sensation scored 130 goals and registered 40 assists in 1999 games over five seasons.
With Inter, he won the treble under Jose Mourinho and scored 53 goals over three seasons with the Italian giants.
In 2011 he joined the ambitious project of Russian side Anzhi, where he became the highest paid player in the world.
After the failed project, he joined Chelsea, where he scored 12 goals and registered seven assists in 35 games in the 2013/14 Premier League season.
A spell at Everton followed that lasted just one season.
Another short-term spell in Serie A with Sampdoria followed before he's move to Turkey.
With Antalyaspor, he regained his prolific form despite his advancing years with 44 goals 77 appearances.
Eto'o then moved to Konyaspor during 2018 and scored six goals in 14 starts before a switch to Qatar.
With Qatar Sports Club the two-time AFCON winner scored six goals in 18 games before announcing his retirement.
"The best of all was Ronaldo, 'O Fenômeno'. I have such great respect and admiration for him," the Cameroon all-time record scorer said.
"Then there are a lot of us who come up behind him, and I'd include myself among them."
The four-time CAF African Footballer of the Year went on to discuss the current generation of superstars.
"The best current players? I'd have to go with Lionel Messi, who's more experienced, and Kylian Mbappé, who's the youngster making the biggest impression.
"I think he's going to be the chief global star in the years to come."
Eto'o netted 371 goals in 764 games at club level of the course of his career that begun with second-tier Spanish side Leganes in 1997 during a loan stint from Real Madrid.
