Mokwena: We will do everything to be AFL champions

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has stated that his side "will do everything" to be crowned African Football League champions this weekend.

The team from Tshwane heads into the crucial second leg of the final against Wydad Casablanca with something of a mountain to climb after losing the first leg 2-1 at the Mohamed V Sports Complex last weekend, but the South African manager is determined to see his men lift the trophy.

Speaking ahead of the all-important clash set to take place at Loftus Versfeld this weekend, Mokwena insisted that the tie is far from over.

"We will do everything we can to be champions at the end of the day," he said, per CAF

"It is not over. We still have the second leg and will throw everything at Wydad."

The Masandawana coach's aggressive approach to the fixture will be aided by thousands of roaring supporters – the Brazilians have confirmed there will be free entry for fans wearing club regalia or yellow  and will hope this proves an added advantage to the away goal they managed to score in the first leg.

"We showed very good character and fought hard against a very good opponent in an intense atmosphere," Mokwena added.

"We have to prepare to recover and get players rested before we throw everything at Wydad.

"It is not over and we will do everything to be champions."

The encounter promises to be an enticing one, with Wydad manager Adel Ramzi having also expressed his desire to take the silverware back to Morocco.

"Just as we won in our home stadium, we are able to repeat that in Pretoria," he said.

"I do not see this as impossible, even if it is difficult, but if the same spirit and combat is present among the players, nothing will stop us."
