Man City star now set for shock exit after Pep 'fallout'

A Manchester City star, who featured in the most recent Premier League Team of the Season, is now reportedly set for shock exit after claims of a fallout with Pep Guardiola.

Earlier this month, it was reported that five City players are unhappy with life under Guardiola at the Etihad, namely Joao Cancelo, Ilkay Gundogan, Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva and Aymeric Laporte.

It was said that Cancelo's relationship with Guardiola and his staff "is not the best", and that the player wants to leave the club as a result, especially as his minutes on the pitch have diminished this season.

According to The Athletic, the Portuguese fullback now looks set to join Bayern Munich on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

The report adds that the deal will likely include a buy option, with the German champions keen to bolster their squad on a permanent basis.

Cancelo was an integral figure for City prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but has started only two Premier League matches since, with the utility player being taken off at half-time in one of those starts.

Youngster Rico Lewis, Nathan Ake, John Stones and Walker have all been ahead of the Portugal international in the fullback pecking order of late.

Cancelo's potential exit comes as a surprise to many as he signed a two-year contract extension in February 2022 to take his deal up to 2027.

It is understood that the player is already on his way to Munich to complete a medical and finalise the deal.
