Shock PSG star to be 'removed' if Zidane takes over

With Zinedine Zidane linked with taking over at Paris Saint-Germain, a shock star will reportedly be axed should the French boss be put in charge of the club.

The 50-year-old continues to be linked with several roles across Europe, having taken a lengthy break since leaving Real Madrid in June 2021.

Since then, there have been some reports that he has also received an offer take charge of the United States men's national team, while he is also said to be considered by London giants Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, who are both currently without a permanent manager.

While it seems there's no shortage of interest in the three-time UEFA Champions League-winning boss, he is believed to be only holding for two jobs, namely the head coach of PSG or the France national side.

The formerly mentioned role appears more feasible than the latter given that the currently Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps signed a new deal until 2026 earlier this year. The Parisians, on the hand, could likely sack their coach, Christophe Galtier, after he failed to guide the team past the Champions League round of 16.

It has since been suggested that Zidane is the favourite to takeover at the Parc des Princes and among the demands he is likely to make to PSG is the removal of Neymar, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The report claims that the Brazilian is viewed as disruptive figure in the squad and the former Los Blancos boss will stand firm on his decision to see him out of the club despite the 31-year-old's contract expiring in June 2027.

Neymar will play no further part for PSG this season after he was ruled out through injury. Though his campaign was cut short, the attacker has made 35 goal contributions in 29 games across all competitions in 2022/23.
