Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho's future now looks to have taken a turn for the worse, with reports suggesting incoming co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has taken the matter into his own hands.
The standoff between manager Erik ten Hag and Sancho continues, with the winger yet to apologise for his public outburst in which he accused his coach of making him a scapegoat after the Dutchman claimed to have omitted him from the matchday squad for their game against Arsenal in September due to his poor showing in training.

While the player's social media post has since been deleted, Sancho has been training in isolation since, and has been left out of all first-team activities too.
It is believed the 23-year-old would be only allowed back if he made a public apology to his boss, but the Englishman has refused to go back on his comments, which is said to be causing a bit of a power struggle at Old Trafford as some senior members of the team are reportedly torn over Ten Hag's strong-arm approach to the conflict.
As a result, Sancho has been linked with a return to Germany, with his former club Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig reportedly strongly considering an approach in the January transfer window.
Italian Juventus are believed to also be interested, but any attempt to sign him may be tricky as the player currently earns a reported £250 000 (R5.7 million) a week.
United would sanction a loan move but they are thought to be adamant about including an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
British billionaire Ratcliffe's impending arrival could now finally put the matter to rest, though, as he is now said to have taken things into his own hands.
According to Sky Sports, the business tycoon has held talks with colleagues and those in power at United over terminating Sancho's contract, despite it being due to expire in June 2026 only.

The player's cost to company is reportedly £13 million (R300 million) a year, and terminating his deal is said to be viewed as the next best option if the club fails to sell or loan him out.
