A former member of the Cameroonian national team claims that Bafana Bafana's biggest weapon going into their crunch Africa Cup of Nation semi-final against Nigeria will be coach Hugo Broos.
There was a lot of skepticism around the appointment of the Belgian tactician when he first took over the 1996 African champions. It's taken some time, but it seems that the former central defender has found a winning formula with this current iteration of South Africa as they now prepare to face their arch rivals, Nigeria, in a massive final four clash.
Broos masterminded the Indomitable Lions' fifth triumph on the continent back in 2017 and now an 18-time capped international of the west African giants in Sebastien Bassong has hailed the South Africa head coach as Bafana's main strength going into the clash.
"South Africa is a dark horse and I'm not feeling great about that, but their main strength is their coach," the former Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United central defender told members of the media.
"With the experience that he has, having won the AFCON before with Cameroon, coupled with the togetherness of the team, they know each other really well.
