The head of the referees department at the South African Football Association (SAFA) Abdul Ebrahim has revealed their plans for next season.
Last season, the local match officials were criticised from coaches and fans for some of their decision-making, but Ebrahim says he was impressed with the way the referees performed last season.
Sikhumbuzo Gasa won the Referee of the Season award, while Assistant Referee of the Season went to Romario Phiri during the Premier Soccer League awards last weekend.

Ebrahim says they are planning to bring in more younger referees in the upcoming 2024/25 DStv Premiership season.
"We haven't had our workshop as of yet but we will have it at the end of July," Ebrahim tells KickOff.
"Though it will depend on a few things every year we have new match officials, they will go through the workshop first and then we will decide.
"Once they are successful at the course they will make it into the national panel, but yes there are always new faces at our pre-season workshop.
"All our match officials had a good 2023/24 season, people criticize match officials all the time but I don't know on what authority they do that.
"But yes our referees had a good season and match officials that won the awards had an excellent season from the start to the end.
"Yes there were errors but nothing was lacking, and every year there's always something match officials can work on.
"Every pre-season they are provided with new tools, new concepts, and new considerations that FIFA brings in.

"We provide them with all the information at the workshops and they have to put in the hard work and make sure that gets carried out on the field of play.
"At this point, we are waiting for the VAR sub-committee to actually sit and plan the way forward.
"We are just waiting for both CEOs from Safa and the PSL to confirm, and then we can meet and discuss the way forward."
