Wydad Athletic Club management has reportedly identified a former Bafana Bafana manager to succeed head coach Rulani Mokwena, who is set to leave the club at the season.
Wydad were close to releasing Mokwena lately, but the South African coach and the club's hierarchy have decided that the coach will remain at least until the end of this campaign.
This circumstance comes after the Red Castle struggles to achieve favourable outcomes, as the club's supporters and some of the board members expected Mokwena to win at least one trophy in his inaugural season.

Now that it is confirmed that the 38-year-old tactician will not be entrusted with the role in the upcoming season, Wydad are reportedly diligently working behind the scenes to find a new leader.
Jose Riveiro, the outgoing Orlando Pirates mentor, has been rumoured to have been offered the position of head coach of the team amongst many other coaches as the search for Mokwena's successor continues.
However, the most high-profile candidate to succeed the former Mamelodi Sundowns gaffer, according to a recent 365Scores report, is Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz.

The report has stated that Wydad has engaged in talks with the former La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid coach, whom they consider to be an ideal substitute for Mokwena, even though coaching CVs continue to pour into the club.
If Queiroz eventually takes over at Wydad, he will be bringing a wealth of experience having managed several national teams, such as Qatar, Egypt, Portugal, and Bafana Bafana.
It remains to be seen if the former Manchester United coach will eventually succeed Mokwena and head Wydad in the upcoming 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
