There has been confirmation on how Kaizer Chiefs turned down the opportunity to sign Fiston Mayele when he was offered to the club.
This happened just prior to Mayele made his move to Egyptian club Pyramids FC after scoring 54 goals in the two seasons he spent playing under Nasreddine Nabi at Young Africans.

He was back in South Africa last week and harassed Orlando Pirates in the first leg of their CAF Champions League semi-final, which ended goalless.
"It is no secret that Mayele was offered to Chiefs, and they turned down the opportunity to sign him," discloses fellow Congolese Christian Bukasa, who is close to the 30-year-old.
"The player was keen to join Chiefs, but the club decided otherwise because they felt he wasn’t worth what he was asking [amount mentioned to this website].
"We spoke to Bobby (Motaung), but they turned down the opportunity, but what I can tell you is that Chiefs would have paid a transfer fee of not more than R10 million.
"All of this happened before Nabi came to Chiefs.
"I believe Mayele would have made a world of a difference at Chiefs because he is a goal-scoring striker as he has proven through the years.
"In South Africa, they have their own way of seeing players and unfortunately, since we last spoke to Chiefs, there has been no further discussions around Mayele.
"He is now with Pyramids, where he is on almost double the money that he had asked from Chiefs.
"The Chiefs door is closed now, and the next logical move will be Saudi Arabia," Bukasa tells KickOff.com.

At Pyramids, Mayele has scored 13 goals this term after banging in 21 in his first season.
The 30-year-old has been on double figures on the scoring charts for six years in a row.
