An ABC Motsepe League side based in Limpopo has appointed former Bafana Bafana mentor Owen Da Gama as their new head coach, and the veteran mentor is raring to go.
In an exclusive interview with this publication, 'Rubber Doll' has explained why he accepted a low-paying job with Vondwe XI Bullets.

"I think the job found me [laughs]. You see, what is happening is I'm busy with my Spanish qualifications. I'm doing a Spanish course. That's because I have realised Spain is currently the best country in the world when it comes to soccer," Da Gama shares with KickOff.
"Since last year, I have been doing a coaching course with them. I was there for two weeks. So, in March, I'm going again for two weeks to do my exams, and I want a lot of coaches in South Africa to be part of this. I will be the representative in South Africa, just to guide people through.
"Since last year, I have been working on this, and then a small team from here in Makhuvha in Limpopo near where my mother lives, where we've got a farm, asked me: 'Could you come and assist us?' and I said: 'No problem'.
"So, I'm going to assist them and help them build proper structures and have a solid foundation. For now, there are no big talks about promotions and stuff, it's just to take the team to another level," he continued.
Da Gama, taking on a philosophical approach, revealed that at times, in life one has to take two steps backward to move forward.
"This suits me well because I remember when I was still at Bloemfontein Celtic, I was supposed to go and do my UEFA B Licence and they said: 'Look, if you go there, there is no more job for you because we've got our ambitions as a team'.
"I never did because they said to me: 'After that course, you're gonna coach Bloemfontein Celtic for one year and then you go to a bigger team and we lose out'.

"But I don't have grudges with anyone. It's part of football, and I hope nobody has got grudges with me. Football is a game, you know. Those who hold grudges against me are part of the devil.
"So, now it's an opportunity. Maybe God has given me some 'sabbatical' time to upgrade my education. You are never too young or too old to learn. It's all about development," concludes the veteran coach.
