Bafana striker set for R587 million move?

Bafana Bafana and Burnley FC striker Lyle Foster is said to be inching closer to a surprise return to the English Premier League, according to reports in the United Kingdom.

Foster was part of the Burnley side that suffered relegation back to the Championship after a disappointing campaign in the topflight, where they finished bottom of the table.

Nonetheless, the 23-year-old was one of the standout players in that team, proving that he has what it takes to cut it in the elite division with five goals and four assists from his 25 appearances.

A new report by England-based journalist Sacha Tavorieli claims the Noordgesig-born attacker may be set for a move to Ipswich Town on a season-long deal that includes an obligation to buy and a £25 million (+-R587 million) fee.

If it happens, the move will eclipse Foster's €7 million (R131 million) fee that Burnley paid to his former Belgian side, and rose to €10 million (R187 million) when The Clarets were promoted.

It would cement the ex-Orlando Pirates man's spot as South Africa's most expensive football export.
