Kaizer Chiefs have lost for a second successive Betway Premiership clash after going down 1-0 to SuperSport United on Saturday evening.
Chiefs made only one change from their big win against the same opposition in the Carling Knockout, as Edson Castillo took the place of Yusuf Maart.
Amakhosi were on the front foot in the early exchanges as Reeve Frosler came close to giving them the lead with a low drive from the edge of the box that missed the bottom corner by inches.
Nasreddine Nabi's charges were unfortunate not to get a penalty on 18 minutes after Castillo was kicked down in the box in a challenge for the ball and he could not continue due to the injury and was replaced by Maart.
The Glamour Boys were denied spaces in dangerous areas by SuperSport but Wandile Duba had a big chance just after the half-hour mark after a through ball by Mduduzi Shabalala but his side-footed shot lacked power and was gathered by shot-stopper Thakasani Mbanjwa.
Matsatsantsa had more resistance after that and Tashreeq Morris broke the deadlock for Gavin Hunt's troops on the stroke of half-time with a looping shot from a one-on-one chance after a square pass by Siphesihle Ndlovu.
Chiefs struggles to break down Matsatsantsa continued from the interval and Nabi made a double change towards the hour-mark, as Mfundo Vilakazi replaced Sirino for fresh legs and Njabulo Blom came on for Bradley Cross in a tactical switch.
Vilakazi and Blom lifted up the game for Amakhosi as they pressurized United but with 18 minutes remaining, the visitors almost went 2-0 behind after Morris spotted goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari way off his area and his audacious loop sailed slightly over the crossbar.
SuperSport looked to lock the game in the last 13 minutes with a defensive and tactical change as Pogiso Sanoka replaced Keanin Ayer.
United defended deep and in numbers and held on to their second win of the season.
