PSL youngster in trouble for 'not thinking straight'?

A recent photo of Cape Town Spurs teenage sensation Luke Baartman wearing a rival club's shirt has created confusion among football fans.

In the image, the talented youngster is seen wearing a Cape Town City shirt, adorned with the unused number 37, despite still having a contract with Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Spurs.

The Urban Warriors expect the player nicknamed 'Boere' to return to action in January after granting him a sabbatical in order to focus on his matric exams.

According to insiders, the management was surprised to see their youngster in a Citizens' shirt.

"Baartman has a long-term contract with Cape Town Spurs. What he did was just typical behaviour for a kid not thinking straight," an insider told KickOff.com.

"If there's any issue, the club will handle it internally. His contract with the club reportedly lasts for four years. They can't poach him, he still has an existing contract. I don't believe Cape Town City can afford him.  In fact, no club in South Africa can."

When contacted by this website for comment, City chairman John Comitis laughed off the whole thing.

"I have no idea who this is. No comment. If it's even a real photo. He is a Spurs player," he said.
