CONFIRMED: Masutha lands new coaching role

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Black Leopards have appointed Joel Masutha as assistant coach to new head coach Zeca Marques.

Masutha handed in his resignation at Baroka FC yesterday, citing homesickness as the reason.

It is not the first time Masutha and Marques will be working together, the two have held same positions at Lidoda Duvha before.

Marques confirmed to KickOff that Masutha was now part of his technical staff.

"Oh yeah, ja he has joined us as assistant coach," Marques tells KickOff.

"I don't know the behind the scenes, but the chairman just told me that they would like to 'bring Masutha in, that I have worked with him before', and I was like, let's do it, let's go.

"And like I have said to the guys today at training, the A Team is back. Me and Joel we worked together before, we took the team to the playoffs.

"The first time I was here Joel was the assistant coach. We beat Kaizer Chiefs in the quarterfinals of Nedbank.

"And we also went to the playoffs, we lost by one goal. We succesful working together me and Joel, we've got great chemistry, he's a fun guy.

"And now he brings in more experience because he's been coaching at other clubs. And the key is his local knowledge. It will help."
