That was until he dropped a bombshell at the Baroka FC Village on Wednesday afternoon.
In an exclusive interview with this publication, club chairman Khurishi Mphahlele has explained in detail what led to the decision to part ways with 'Moporofita'.
"Masutha he resigned, he was not pushed. Maybe he feels he can't do it anymore," Mphahlele opens up.
"The weekend was his first loss after two draws. So, he was under pressure. But as a club, we didn't put him under any pressure.
"After the weekend's game, he stayed behind. Remember, he is from there in Venda.
"He came back on Monday, he trained the team on Monday, Tuesday...
"On Wednesday, I don't know what tricked him to resign.
"So, yesterday, instead of going to training, he resigned. He stopped everything. I don't know what tricked him, but we suspect he got a job near home.

"From what I have observed, [it] is that he likes being home too much. He is always at home [in Venda]. He must be homesick. He likes Venda.
"The assistant coach, Amukelani Hlongwani, will take over, carry on as an interim, until further notice," adds the club boss.
