Jomo Cosmos owner and head coach Jomo Sono has explained why he did not express interest in purchasing Betway Premiership club Royal AM.
The KwaZulu-Natal was recently put up for sale by the South African Revenue Service allowing the public to place bids.
"I don't have money, and I don't understand why people assume that I do. Where would I get the money? Anginamali mina," Sono tells KickOff.

"Even if I had money, I would just deposit it into my bank account and earn interest.
"Even if I were to spend my last R15 million to buy the club, there would still be the Samir Nurkovic situation waiting for me. No, it just won't work. So, I would rather keep it in the bank and hope for better interest rates."
Cosmos, who are currently competing in the amateur ranks of the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League, were relegated from the top tier in 2022 and have struggled to return to the Betway Premiership since then.
"We will come back; it's just that people don't know our plans. Recently, we loaned out seven of our best players," Says Sono.
"Some of them are currently with Gomora United because they are still in the race against Highlands Park. When we realized we were out of contention, we thought it would be better to start developing our under-23 players, which is why we loaned our seven players out. They will return when the new season kicks off in May.
"Our league is primarily played by under-23 players. In fact, we are the only team in this division that fields nine players who are under 23.

"We are grooming these youngsters because we recognize we will not catch the log leaders, Highlands Park. So why keep your experienced players if you have already lost the race? It's better to let them go and play elsewhere.
"At this stage, we are focusing on developing young talent for next season; we aren't worried about results.
"By next season, we can definitely win the league with these youngsters, as they will be more experienced when the time comes. It becomes challenging in this league if you rely solely on inexperienced under-23 players."
