Gyan earned his place in what is in effect FIFA’s view of the 23 best players in the world on the back of a fine World Cup campaign when he scored three goals as the Black Stars reached the last eight.
The GFA in a congratulatory statement said they hoped the nomination will stir Gyan on to greater things.
“Your nomination did not come to us as a surprise at all, especially after a very successful FIFA World Cup campaign in South Africa this year," a statement to the player said.
“It is our belief and hope that this would urge you on to win more laurels in your career as a footballer, bearing in mind that out of the many talented footballers across the globe, you are part of the 23 nominees and also part of the three footballers chosen from the English Premiership in England by FIFA.”
