Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan is staying put at Sunderland

Several reports had suggested Gyan had slapped in a transfer request demanding a move from Sunderland but club sources say that is not true.

Now Gyan will stay on and attempt to get his form back after an indifferent start to the season.

The 13-million pound striker scored 11 goals in his first season but has been guilty of some bad misses already this season triggering criticism from a section of the club's fans.

He will return from international duty with Ghana keen to get back to full fitness.
