Khoza moves to end future commission uproars

The Orlando Pirates' boss said in a report published by Business Day on Tuesday that he plans to suggest to the Board of Governors that all future sponsorship negotiations be handled by independent companies.

The report states Khoza, who scheduled to meet with Butana Komphela later in the day to update Parliaments portfolio committee on sport on developments in the PSL, said the idea was just one suggestion that should be considered before the present sponsorship contracts were up for renewal.

"Maybe we should just put it out to tender. I think few other alternatives will satisfy everyone. All of this controversy over the last few weeks was uncalled for."

Khoza adds that, contrary to popular belief, he never tried to secure a 10 percent commission for himself and other members of the team - which includes Kaizer Motaung, Mato Madlala, Trevor Phillips and Peter Mancer - that negotiated the PSL's R1,6-billion broadcast sponsorship with SuperSport International, and the R500m deal with Absa .

After returning from his meeting with Komphela, the PSL chairman will present the League's financial statement to the Board of Governors at a general meeting on Saturday.
