Matthew Pattison takes a dig at Mamelodi Sundowns owner Patrice Motsepe

The hard-working midfielder, who has been loaned out to Santos, said last week he was disappointed that he had not made any starts in the first half of the season under new coach Johan Neeskens.

“As far as I’m concerned Hristo Stoitchkov should still be in charge, but if you change coaches every season then you are not going to have success.

“My first two years at the club I thought I did well but the new coach came with his own ideas. I have nothing against coach Neeskens, some times in football you’ve got to take it on the chin,” said Pattison, who played in England at Newcastle United and Norwich City.

Stoichkov was Sundowns coach in Pattison’s first season, using him first as a winger and then in central midfield.

But the Bulgarian was replaced at the start of the 2010/11 campaign by his assistant Antonio Lopez, who in turn was fired after eight month. Ian Gorowa finished the last campaign as Sundowns coach before Neeskens took over in July.
