De Sa outlines new CT City role

Former Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits head coach Roger De Sa has shared information about his new role at Premier Soccer League club Cape Town City.

In an exclusive interview with KickOff, the former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper discussed the details of his contract with the Citizens.

De Sa mentioned that he will only be with the club owned by John Comitis for three months, mainly to guide assistant coach Diogo Peral until the end of the season.

Peral, along with Lebogang Manyama, served as an assistant to Muhsin Ertugral before the latter was relieved of his duties.

"It's not much—I'm just helping out for three months, until the end of the season. That's all. I'm here to assist the new coach. He is young, and I'm just here to help him, that's all," De Sa explained.

"My role is to guide him as he navigates this season. The new coach will only join at the beginning of the next season; he's Dutch. So, right now, it's just about supporting Diogo, who has never coached as a head coach before.

"I'm here to provide guidance and advice—nothing major. I will probably be sitting on the bench as well. There's no specific mandate for me; I'm just here to finish the season, that's it."

Currently, Cape Town City sits in 13th place on the Betway Premiership table, having gained only 23 points from 23 league matches.

"There is still a chance for a top-eight finish. Right now, the main objective is to move away from the bottom position and climb higher in the standings. It's a great team, both previous coaches, Eric Tinkler and Muhsin Ertugral, did well. The club is stable and has a lot of talented players."
