Stars look to Champions League

Platinum Stars CEO Larry Brookstone expressed disappointment at the outcome of the transfer talks.

“We tried our best to sign Schalkwyk, but he is going back to Chiefs. We are very disappointed, as we would have loved to have him.”

Stars have, however, have managed to sign Superport United defender George Mofokeng.

Brookestone said this was done with their participation in the next Caf Champions League in mind.

“We are going to rely on the PSL to try and make sure that we don’t suffer the same fixture clashes that are affecting Sundowns in the Champions League. But we obviously had to bolster our squad, and George Mofokeng will definitely reinforce our defence.

“We also still have one foreign space open, so all-in-all we are in a positive position.”

Mofokeng will not feature in this weekend’s game against Black Leopards, as the team had already travelled to Limpopo.
