Nassir signed with SuperSport in October last year after his ill-fated tenure at Mamelodi Sundowns where was marred with injuries.

The 24-year-old striker joined Sundowns in January 2022 from  Ethiopian Coffee and went on to make only 19 appearances and scored four goals during his stay at Chloorkop. Nassir last sat on the bench for Matsatsantsa when they hosted Magesi FC during the Betway Premiership match played in Tshwane on Christmas Eve.

SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt has confirmed that Abubeker Nassir has been absent from work for the past two weeks and has not set foot at training.

"I don't know (where he is). I have not seen him for two weeks, so I don't know where he is ", Hunt told KickOff.com.

SuperSport United have been struggling in front of goals and still yet to score a goal in the New Year. The Tshwane Giants lost their second match in succession when beaten 1-0 by Polokwane City during the Betway Premiership match played in Pretoria on Friday.
