Belgian Pro League match report Waasland-Beveren v Anderlecht

Tau started in a three-man midfield for the visiting side, who looked to climb further up the league standings following last Sunday's 2-0 win over Cercle Brugge.

Tau wasted no time to get stuck in following kick-off as he picked up a loose pass from Jeremy Doku and Adrien Trebel for a snap effort, but the attempt sailed off target.

Anderlecht would eventually break the deadlock towards the tenth minute after Trebel curled home from a completely unmarked position following a corner-kick.

The visitors netted a second just before the 20th minute after Doku reacted on time to Nordin Jackers' rebound off Lukas Nmecha's effort for a thumping finish.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns talisman Tau started coming alive again four minutes to halftime after finding a yard of space towards the area before dragging wide.

Anderlecht should've gone to the break with a two-goal cushion after earning a penalty in stoppage time, but Nmecha failed to capitalise.

Vincent Kompany's side would atone for the aforementioned miss eleven minutes from halftime as Yari Verschaeren finished off an assist from Boku.

Anderlecht were offered another penalty on 59 minutes after Jackers hacked down Nmecha, who dusted himself off to atone for the earlier miss from the spot.

The home side pulled one back on 64 minutes courtesy of Din Sula after Kompany's side went to sleep at the back.

Daan Heymans gifted the hosts a second two minutes to added time to set-up a nervy finish, however Anderlecht bagged victory to go third on the table.
