Ex-Chiefs striker Caleb yet to break his duck in Iran

Former Kaizer Chiefs star Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana is yet to open his goal-scoring account for Zob Ahan in Iran despite arriving in October 2024.

Last October, Bimenyimana joined Iranian top-flight side Zob Ahan as a free agent. The tall centre-forward signed a short-term deal with the club, which is set to end in June 2025.

The Burundi international made his debut in November 2024, coming on as a 14-minute substitute in a 1-0 defeat to Chadormalu SC.

Since then, the 27-year-old has gone on to make only three more Iran Pro League appearances for his new club, along with one appearance in the Hafzi Cup.

With a total of just five matches played for Zob Ahan, Bimenyimana has yet to register a goal or an assist in his first three months at the club.

Furthermore, the African player has not featured in Zob Ahan's last three matches, having remained on the bench in the two most recent games.

Notably, Bimenyimana's side sits in sixth place in the Iran Pro League, above coach Pitso Mosimane's side Esteghlal FC, who are languishing in 11th spot on the table.

In South Africa, the marksman faced immense criticism for his performances in Chiefs' colours.

He lasted just one season at Naturena before parting ways, despite a respectable return of eight goals and one assist in 21 matches for Amakhosi, according to Transfermarkt.
