Manchester United legend 'fed up' of Lionel Messi

A Manchester United legend has claimed he is "fed up" of Lionel Messi once again being one of the favourites to win the Ballon d'Or.

The debate over who should win the 2021 edition of the famous prize has been a contentious subject, with a number of former players and managers having weighed in on who they think deserves it the most.

Former United and France fullback Evra has now provided an emphatic response as to who he believes should take it this year, with the likes of Messi and Robert Lewandowski widely considered to be favourites to win it.

"In my opinion, the Ballon d'Or has to go to Jorginho or [N'Golo] Kante," he said in an interview with ESPN.

"I'm fed up, rotten that they give it to Leo Messi. What are they going to tell me he did this year, to win the Copa America? Well, that's fine.

"But say what he did in the whole year with FC Barcelona."

Jorginho won the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup with Chelsea, as well as the 2020 UEFA European Championship with Italy, while Kante also got his hands on the former two trophies earlier this year.
