Man City's UCL ambitions dented after dropping points

Manchester City's top-four hopes in the Premier League suffered another set-back following a 2-2 draw with Brighton Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

Four changes were presented by City in Stefan Ortega, Omar Marmoush, Ilkay Gundogan, Rico Lewis who replaced Ederson, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, Matheus Nunes.

Marmoush proved influential ten minutes played and drew a foul in the box to win a penalty which Norwegian ace Erling Haaland tucked away comfortably.

Brighton responded swiftly and in fine style too as Pervis Estupinan drilled a delightful free-kick over the wall and in off the inside post.

Marmoush remained troublesome a little later and got possession in a promising area to tee-up Savinho for a strike, but the Brazilian was caught in two-minds.

The Egyptian wonderkid came good once more after bringing a neat pass from Gundogan in his stride on the edge of the box and powered in off the foot of the post.

City surrendered the lead yet again two minutes after halftime when Abdukodir Khusanov directed a snap shot from the area into the back of his own net.

The Seagulls looked to take control of the clash with Diego Gomez coming close to opening up the defence through a square-pass across the face of goal, but saw it cleared.

Japanese international Kaoru Mitoma fancied putting the visitors ahead in the closing stages through a low penetrative effort from way out, but Ortega kept him out.

City almost though regained the lead through a point-blank header by Nico Gonzalez off Gundogan's delivery, but he was denied by the woodwork.

Both teams looked for the winner in the final stages, but in the end had settle for a point seeing City's top-four hopes in further limbo.
