Man City humble Chelsea to extend unbeaten run

Manchester City bounced back from midweek disappointment with a 3-1 win over Chelsea in a Premier League clash on Saturday evening.

New City signings Abdukodir Khusanov and Omar Marmoush made their debuts, while Levy Colwill, Enzo Fernandez and Jadon Sancho were recalled by the Blues.

The Blues hit the ground running in the opening minute when Noni Madueke got space in the box and finished off a square pass from Nicolas Jackson.

However, the advantage were under threat on ten minutes as Phil Foden came short from the right-side and strike the upright with a low penetrative shot.

Marmoush looked to have gotten a dream debut soon past the half-hour mark after tapping in a rebound from goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, but it didn't stand due to an offside.

The reply did come though just before the break when Josko Gvardiol broke through the lines to get in the box and tap in a layoff from Matheus Nunes.

Norwegian Erling Haaland could've given the host the lead a few minutes in the second half with a first-time strike from a tight angle, but Sanchez parried.

Debutant Khusanov saw his time on the field cut short ten minutes from the break and replaced by veteran as well as fellow defender John Stones.

Haaland got the reigning champions ahead in the midway mark after getting off Trevor Chalobah to run in to the near side and curled over the advancing Sanchez.

The Cityzens gained complete control two minutes from time when hold-up play at the halfway line from Haaland released Foden to go clean through and net the third.

With the win, City extend their unbeaten in the league to six matches and cemented fourth-place as the Blues slipped to sixth.

Confirmed line-ups:

Manchester City: Ederson, Nunes, Khusanov, Akanji, Gvardiol, Kovacic, Gundogan, Bernardo, Marmoush, Foden, Haaland

Chelsea: Sanchez, James, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella, Caicedo, Fernandez, Madueke, Palmer, Sancho, Jackson
