SA's U-20 AFCON opponents: We have the toughest group

An African coach has remarked that his team has the toughest group at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations after being drawn with South Africa, Nigeria, and Morocco.

On Thursday, CAF confirmed the draw for the upcoming U-20 AFCON, which is set to take place from 26 April to 18 May 2025 in Cote d'Ivoire.

The tournament comprises 13 teams, with Group A having five sides, while Groups B and C have four nations, respectively.

Amajita were drawn in Group B alongside Nigeria, Morocco, and Egypt.

Reacting to the draw, the Egypt U-20 manager Osama Nabih suggests that his side have been drawn in the tournament's 'group of death'.

According to FilGoal, Nabih said: "There is no doubt that we are in the strongest group of the tournament, but we have confidence in ourselves, our players, and our capabilities.

"We face a tough challenge in Côte d'Ivoire, but with effort, determination, and hard work, we are capable of overcoming difficulties and qualifying for the World Cup.

"We will continue the hard work we started and prepare well for the tournament. We have a solid preparation programme.

"We will play several friendly matches to achieve the necessary cohesion and harmony for this team. Egyptian national teams are used to facing challenges, and for us, nothing is impossible.

"The next phase requires everyone to come together because the tournament will be truly difficult, especially with the changes in the African football landscape over the past few years."
