'Zungu has already proven himself'

Former Mamelodi Sundowns forward Manqoba 'Shakes' Ngwenya has shared some advice for the club's former player, Bongani Zungu.

Zungu, who unexpectedly left Sundowns last season, has now returned to AmaZulu FC.

The two historic clubs are set to meet at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Tuesday.

Ngwenya believes that Sundowns will have too much firepower for the rejuvenated Usuthu, who currently sit 13th on the log table following a poor start to the season.

"It's not going to be an easy game, as the Sundowns coach is still finding his feet," Ngwenya tells KickOff.

"AmaZulu cannot be taken for granted, as they are currently on the rise and gaining confidence. They have a former Mamelodi Sundowns player in Bongani Zungu.

"Although Sundowns have enough quality to defeat AmaZulu, they could encounter trouble if they underestimate them, especially since Sundowns are not at their best right now.

"It will be interesting to see if Bongani Zungu gets the chance to face Sundowns today. I'm excited to watch how he performs against his former team because I know he is a talented player. I look forward to seeing what he adds to the AmaZulu squad.

"However, I still believe Sundowns has the edge because of their quality. Coaching Sundowns can be challenging due to the talent in the squad," the former Downs star added.

"For Zungu, this is just another game, he has already proven himself as a quality player, so it shouldn't be about proving himself again.

"As a professional who has travelled and played for the national team, Zungu is not a rookie, he knows how to manage these situations. I have faith in his abilities.

"An upset is always possible in football, but at the moment, Sundowns have a new head coach, and the players are eager to prove themselves. Everyone is looking to showcase their skills to the coach."
