EURO 2020 match report Spain v Poland

Spain's search for a first win at Euro 2020 continues following a 1-1 stalemate draw with Poland on Sunday evening.

Only one change from Spain happened with Gerard Moreno in for Ferran Torres, as Jakub Moder, Karol Swiderski and Tymoteusz Puchacz set out Poland's changes.

La Roja secured their first goal of the tournament five minutes to the half-hour mark when Alvaro Morata helped Moreno's cross-cum shot into the near corner.

There was a potential of an offside after the Juventus forward was said to have moved ahead of play, however it was dispelled by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and the strike stood.

Poland should've drawn themselves level from possession turnover, but Swiderski battered the foot of the post a little later with Robert Lewandowski unable to parry the rebound.

Moreno though continued to haunt the Polish in the final minute of the half as he threatened a second for La Roja with an attempt from a ball by Jordi Alba.

Poland pulled level nine minutes from halftime when Lewandowski leaped in the area to head in a pin-point delivery from Kamil Jozwiak.

La Roja could've gone back in front from the penalty spot after VAR flagged Moder for stamping on Moreno, who missed the resultant kick with Morata unable to bury the rebound.

Spain wasted another chance to go back ahead with 20 minutes to go when Ferran Torres found acres of space at the near post to head a telling delivery narrowly wide.

A goal-mouth scramble late on continued to frustrate the Spaniards and in particular Morata and Torres, who couldn't beat goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

In the end , the two sides settled for a point apiece with La Roja still on the hunt for their first win in the tournament.
