Banyana Banyana have moved up one place in the Fifa rankings

The senior women’s national team has moved into 53rd on the rankings table, just a few weeks after they finished in sixth position at the Cyprus Cup.

Banyana, who played a friendly international against Sweden in Cape Town in January, beat Hungary and drew with Slovakia and Korea DPR during the Cyprus Cup group stages. They finished the round robin stage without conceding a goal, which shows just how much they have improved at the back.

They were beaten in the fifth place play-off against Belgium, but they will be hoping to build from their promising performances in the competition going forward.

The USA remain top of the women's rankings, while England, Germany, Canada,  France, Australia, the Netherlands, Brazil, Sweden and Korea DPR complete the top 10 in the world.

Banyana are ranked fourth on the continent, behind leaders Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon.
