Banyana hammered Lesotho 6-0 at Dr Molemela Stadium on Sunday and clinched the tie 7-0 on aggregate.
It was a commanding performance from the senior women’s team and they’ll now be looking to do well at the 13th edition of the competition set to be played in Ghana from November 17 to December 1. The top three teams in the competition will qualify for the World Cup in France.
After winning the first leg 1-0 in Maseru, Banyana knew they had to be more ruthless in front of goal.
“We tried to come out here and play our game. We weren’t as clinical in Lesotho and we just wanted to redeem ourselves and show how good we are. So coming out there, we tried to encourage ourselves and we tried to talk to each other about being relaxed in front of goal and getting that confidence,” said Seoposenwe, who bagged a brace in the emphatic victory.
“In Lesotho there was a lot of chances, but we did not put them away and so to come out here and be playing in front of such a great crowd, I want to thank my teammates. Our ultimate goal is to qualify for the World Cup, so we had to play as a team. As soon as we did that. We had control of the game and it was a great performance from everyone.”
