U17 World Cup match report Bantwana v Brazil 20 November 2018

South Africa were looking for their first win in order to qualify for the next round, having registered a draw and a loss in their opening two games.

Goalkeeper Kay-Dee Windvogel had a busy opening few minutes as the South African produced a couple saves to deny the Brazilians early on.

Bantwana grew stronger as the first half went on and they also managed to carve out a couple chances, forcing goalkeeper Mayara into a save after 23 minutes.

Simphiwe Dludlu's charges went close to taking the lead in the 39th minute through Karabo Dhlamini, but her close-range effort was saved by the Brazilian shot-stopper.

The Brazilians eventually broke the deadlock in the 51st minute, with Jheniffer firing past Windvogel.

Moments later, Bantwana were then reduced to ten players after Miche Minnies was shown a straight red card, resulting in a penalty for Brazil which was converted by Julia.

Zethembiso Vilakazi pulled a goal back for the South Africans just moments later after rounding the goalkeeper to slot home.

Brazil hit back straight away through Amanda's finish, before Eduarda also got in on the act to bag her side's fourth goal on 60 minutes.

Despite being a player down, Bantwana held their own managed to carve out a couple chances at goal, although the Brazil shot-stopper was equal to the efforts.

Nevertheless, 4-1 was how the encounter finished as South Africa bow out of the tournament at the group stage.
