Tunisian giants Esperance started their Group D campaign with a 2-0 victory over Raja Casablanca at Stade Mohamed V.
Two first-half goals from Anice Badri and Ibrahim Ouattara were enough to seal the three points for Esperance, who are level on three points with JS Kabylie, while Raja went to the bottom of the pool.
Badi Aouk netted a minute before time as Wydad Casablanca salvaged a 1-1 draw against USM Alger in their Group C opener at Stade Mustapha Tchaker.
