Milutin Sredojevic: Zamalek head coach slams allegations after Generation Foot debacle
Milutin Sredojevic has slammed allegations made against Zamalek after their controversial progression to the CAF Champions League group stage. After a flawless start to life in Cairo, Senegalese side Generation Foot inflicted the first defeat for Zamalek since Micho's appointment. But 24 hours before kick-off the Confederation of African Football (CAF) informed the Senegalese champions of the postponement for Sunday at the Borg Al Arab stadium for security reasons. READ: Generation Foot President accused of bribery However, Generation Foot rejected on the grounds of current CAF rules stating a fixture cannot be postponed a day before kickoff and decided to travel back home. The White Knights were subsequently awarded a 3-0 walkover victory, leading to outrage on social media, with criticism directed towards CAF and alleged favouritism towards the five-time African champions. Sredojevic, clearly irked by the attacks on his new club, defended the incident and called out the criticism directed at Zamalek as 'stupid'. "In comments below your bold truth statement is such amount of nonsense that is ridiculous," he wrote on Twitter. "Zamalek has not done anything wrong towards our sport opponents and we don't accept stupid accusations about us. "We have a team that was ready to win on the field of play fair and square."
