New Zamalek Boss reportedly second-highest-paid manager in Africa after succeeding Micho

After Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic sacking by Zamalek president Mortada Mansour, Patrice Carteron has been selected as his successor.

In landing the head coach role with the African giants, the Frenchman is reportedly the second-highest-paid coach on the continent, earning $100k-per-month (R1.46m) according to Nilesports.

The staggering sum is effectively more than double he was believed to have been earning at Botala Pro giants Raja Casablanca, where he lifted the 2019 CAF Super Cup before being sacked in November.

According to LeSport 360, the CAF Champions League-winning manager now outearns Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt, who earns a reported $38k-per-month (R557 000) and Pitso Mosimane, who is said to be on a monthly wage of $56k-per-month (R821 000) at Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, Rene Weiler, currently in charge of the White Knights' domestic rivals, Al Ahly, is said to be the only manager on the continent out-earning him with a $166k-per-month (R2.4m) contract - which he signed in August this year.

Carteron will start his tenure in the CAF Champions League with a tricky tie against Primeiro de Agosto at the Cairo International Stadium on Saturday evening.
