Pitso Mosimane talks up why Mauricio Affonso will be important in the CAF Champions League

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has assured the club's fans there is more to see from Uruguayan striker Mauricio Affonso than just his aerial presence.

After scoring with his first touch in the CAF Champions League, Affonso announced his arrival on the domestic scene when he scored the last goal in the 5-0 win over AmaZulu in the Telkom Knockout match on Sunday.

The towering targetman finished neatly with a header following a perfect cross from the right from Thapelo Morena in the second half.

"He is a nine, I told you before. I don't know if you were here when we played the Seychelles team [Cote d'Or]. Nearly the same goal but that one was from a corner-kick. He is powerful, his strength is there.

"We brought him to help us in the Champions League because in Champions League we always struggle in height with opponents. When we play Wydad [Casablanca], the big boys are coming. When we play USM [Alger], the big boys are there. I haven't checked the Angolans [Petro de Luanda] yet.

"We need that. We need someone to play out to when we play away and he has the body to do that. Affonso can play with his feet. What you see is his strength. You must see him when he plays with his feet, he is okay."

Mosimane could recall Affonso when his team take on Highlands Park in a league match at Lucas Moripe Stadium tonight (19h30).
