The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (RMFF) sent a letter to the CAF Clubs Committee informing them that the Wydad Casablanca and Kaizer Chiefs match will not be allowed to take place due to health and safety concerns related to the recent developments of Covid-19.
SAFA CEO Tebogo Motlanthe has assured football supporters that the matter has nothing to do with politics between the two countries.
"No no no, it has nothing to do with that [South Africa's relationship with Morocco]. It has to do with Covid," Mothlanthe tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"Remember, South Africa has issued a statement about this new virus which was found. It has to do with Covid, it has nothing to do with any diplomatic issue."
Motlanthe confirms that the game has been postponed until a new venue is found.
"The game of Chiefs is officially postponed. CAF will communicate a new date. Of course as a federation we were talking to CAF on their behalf [Chiefs]."
