Gallants were fortunate enough to start the first-leg double hero Celimpilo Ngema after he missed Tuesday's clash with Royal AM in the DStv Premiership and featured Joseph Malongoane too.
Following last Friday's 2-1 defeat, Vita knew that they could rely on their away goal heading to the return-leg and that proved to be the case with the opener that levelled the overall tie.
Gallants looked to get back immediately through a promising free-kick far from the actual target, but Thabo Mnyamane wasn't able to make their opposite number work.
With the half-hour mark gone, Mnyamane came close to the net again this time through a header from the back-post following a ball in from the right-side but it was parried to safety.
Further promise from Gallants following the second half showed with amongst others a free-kick out on the near side by Ngema whilst Vita responded with telling moves of their own.
Gallants managed to still unsettle the giants from the Democratic Republic of Congo as a snap-shot from an awkward angle by Malongoane showed the point in question.
The Limpopo outfit continued to launch forays in desperate pursuit of getting the equaliser that would stand them in good stead while Vita hanged on tight.
Gallants would get their wish in the dying minutes when the sought after leveller followed that proved enough to land them a ticket in the group stage playoffs.
