CAF Confederation Cup match report Marumo Gallants v TP Mazembe 05 December 2021

Gallants, who entered the match high in confidence following their win in midweek against TS Galaxy, made two changes in Tebogo Thangwane and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo.

With a narrow first-leg lead, Mazembe began on the back-foot five minutes gone as Matome Kgoetyane dragged a low shot from a promising area narrowly off target.

The Ravens started to assert authority and after eleven minutes saw a rasping strike from afar by Zola Bossu sail inches past the goal of veteran goalkeeper Washington Arubi.

More worrying moments followed Bahlabane Ba Ntwa with Merceil Ngimbi and Adam Bossu on the prowl, but the host managed to hold their guard inside the half-hour mark.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa, who were pretty much on the back-foot the duration of the first half, were first to make a substitution as Maboke Matlakala entered for Edgar Manaka.

The Ravens lived dangerously once again two minutes following the second half as a ball to the back-post found Celimpilo Ngema, who snapped the delivery off target.

Gallants' confidence began to grow towards the latter periods of the match, whilst Mazembe still managed to see a lot of offensive forays through in particular Bossu.

In the end, Mazembe did managed play effectively well to hang onto their first-leg advantage for a spot in the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
