SuperSport bow out of Confed Cup group stages

SuperSport United's hopes of reaching the CAF Confederation Cup knockout stage came to an end after a 1-1 draw with Modern Future FC.

Coach Gavin Hunt gave a full debut to Aphiwe Baliti while Jesse Donn and Phathutshedzo Nange were recalled by coach Gavin Hunt.

Baliti got stuck in and intercepted a few promising build-ups and counters the visiting team looked to get to their advantage to get a sight on goal.

Future continued to keep the pace amidst the host' fortitude at the back and were ahead past the half-hour mark courtesy of Ali Mahmoud Fouad Zaza.

Matsatsantsa should've been on level terms three minutes to halftime from a first-time header by Ighodaro after Tendamudzimu Matodzi's surging cross, but the Zimbabwean snapped.

Hunt introduced a trio of changes before the resumption in Thulani Hlatshwayo, Gape Moralo and Terrence Dzvukamanja, with Jesse Donn, Selaelo Rasebotja and Yandisa Mfolozi substituted.

Hlatshwayo prompted an instant impact with a telling header from an inviting cross out wide by Campbell, but he was denied in the end.

Matsatsantsa continued to play on the wings and got the just rewards when Matodzi jumped on the end of Baliti's pin-point cross to head in off the ground and in the top corner.

Future regained momentum later on and threatened the winner with a first-time shot from way out by Ghanam Mohamed, but his effort clattered off the upright.

No team were able to get the winner before the closing exchanges and settled for a point apiece, with United eliminated and Future into the knockout stages.
