Gavin Hunt delighted about Papy Faty return

The Burundian international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, and late last year on his return the knee flared up while on his rehabilitation and he has been out since April last year.

However, Faty came on as a late substitute on Wednesday night as Wits won 2-1 against Maritzburg United, much to the relief of his coach.

"We missed him a lot and that cost us the Cup Final last year," said Hunt.

"We would have won that [Nedbank] Cup Final if we had Papy because we needed legs in that midfield, and the whole of the season he was magnificent and he really did well, but unfortunately in the last three games he missed out.

"He missed the Cup Final, which killed us. He has been out for, I don't know how many months, since last year April … it was his first 10, 15 minutes. He is huge to the club and pivotal to us as last season he was doing well."

Faty played almost 30 appearances for Hunt's side in 2013/14 and is expected to remain an influential member of the squad, especially now that the club kickstarts their CAF Confederation Cup campaign this weekend.
