Josef Zinnbauer eyeing CAF Confederation Cup group stage spot after win in Botswana

Pirates have one foot in the next round of the competition after beating Jwaneng Galaxy 3-0 at Bostwana National Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Buccaneers put out a dominant display without star midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch as they scored three unanswered goals to further strengthen their chances of advancing ahead of the return leg at Orlando Stadium this Saturday.

Zinnbauer is now hoping Lorch will be joined by the likes of Thabang Monare, Gabadinho Mhango and other first team stars that have been sidelined and missed the outing yesterday.

"Yes, we have to see what happens. We have injured players, as you saw the weather was very hot and both teams struggled a little bit in their conditioning," Zinnbauer told the local media in Botswana after the match.

"But our team was very good, we have now the recovery days and we need these recovery days after having a lot of games in the past weeks.

"Now it's important to recovery and then start [preparing] and see what happens with the next game, which players are available – I hope Lorch and other players come back and we can improve the next start to win.

"We need a good game, I know the opponent is good so we have the full concentration for next Saturday."

The German further stressed that a similar performance this coming weekend will all but secure their spots in the round-robin phase of the tournament.

"The result is important and when we have opportunities we need to score more goals. We have three goals now but the game is not over," he added.

"We have a second leg and we have to concentrate on the next game on Saturday. If we give the same performance then we have a good chance [to qualify] for the next round."
